Following the recent federal extension for tax filings, Massachusetts has announced that it will extend the filing and payment deadline for individual income tax returns until May 17, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is unclear presently whether the Massachusetts extension will also apply to other types of tax returns due on April 15, such as fiduciary income tax returns. Similar to the federal extension, the Massachusetts extension applies to individual taxpayers and does not affect estimated tax payments that are due on April 15, 2021.
